Hans Zimmer announces retirement…from superhero movies

I have a confession to make: two days ago I nearly had a heart attack because I saw the words “Hans Zimmer announces retirement…”

Thankfully, Zimmer hasn’t retired from making film scores all together, but he IS done writing music for superhero films. This is a shame because Zimmer has contributed heavily to superhero films over the last decade. He’s worked on The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and the just-released Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. And while some are divided on the merits of Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman, I think very few would deny that Zimmer’s music is well-done as always.

May it be a very long time before Hans Zimmer truly retires from the film scoring business.
