At last! After months and months of waiting, High-Rise (2015), starring Tom Hiddleston, has FINALLY come to DVD in the US (yes, I know I could’ve rented it digitally ages ago, but I’ve known for a long time that I needed a physical copy of this film, so I decided to wait for the DVD release).
I can’t wait to watch this film, I know I’ll love it because dystopian films are one of my favorite genres. I think it started when I read all of that dystopian literature in high school: Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Animal Farm, A Clockwork Orange, Brave New World, Atlas Shrugged (my AP English teacher recommended that one to me), and so on. I found the genre so enjoyable that I always keep my eyes open for a new book (or film) in the genre (I’m very interested to get my hands on a copy of Ready Player One, as it sounds like the perfect book for me).
I’m intrigued by the idea of living inside this massive building and being sucked into the petty class warfare that erupts. I’ve read a number of reviews on this film and I can’t wait to (finally!!) share my own thoughts on it. Stay tuned later this week for my thoughts on High-Rise 🙂
