Hi everyone, I feel that I need to sit and talk with you for a minute, I’m sure you’ve noticed some new things appearing (and disappearing) and I want to explain.
I’ve been blogging for the better part of a year now, and I absolutely love it. I love sharing all of these films and film scores with you and it makes me very happy to see how much you enjoy it. To be the best film music blogger possible, I need to be able to see movies in the theater as they open so I can keep up with the very latest in films and soundtracks.
Here’s the truth: In my current job while I’m in graduate school, I don’t make a lot of money. And with school starting in a matter of weeks, I’m going to be making even less than I do now. The reality is, without additional support, the next big movie I’ll be able to cover will probably be Rogue One in December. I won’t have the means to go see anything else (even though I want to very much).
To that end, I have decided to launch a page on Patreon, a website that allows people to pledge various amounts of money to “creators.” These can be artists, writers, actors, filmmakers, even bloggers like myself. In return for becoming a “patron,” you can earn whatever rewards the creator chooses to make.
So far, I have two (there may be more in the future): for a pledge of $1 a month (or more), you will receive 1) my undying gratitude and 2) your name posted on the main page of the blog as one of Film Music Central’s “patrons.” For $5 (or more) a month, you would receive the first reward and you would get to choose a film for me to write about (in any genre you like).
I want to make this clear: there is no pressure to become a patron, this is completely voluntary. I’m not going to stop writing or anything like that, there will just be less new films covered in the future.
Thanks for listening, if you’d like to check the Patreon page out, the link is located above. Have a great day 🙂 -Becky
