Regarding my recent absence…

Hey guys,

So I know I’ve pretty much disappeared recently and I thought I would explain. As you may know, I’m in my 5th year of graduate school and I’m in the writing phase of my dissertation. Which basically means I eat, sleep and think about this thing 24/7 (even if I’m not actively working on it). That in itself is very stressful. But on top of that, I have my job at the library (yea, I work at a library, it’s pretty cool), taekwondo, social obligations, not to mention running Film Music Central (which, don’t get me wrong, I love to do). Add all of these up and you have a titanic amount of stress. And this has been my status quo pretty much all of 2016 (and most of 2015 before that).

Well…my brain finally cracked up. Multiple fuses have burned out, you might say, and the parts of my brain focused on studying have put up surrender flags. I simply didn’t have the mental energy to focus on…basically anything outside of the necessities of survival. And so that’s why I disappeared like that.

I don’t think I’ll be back for a few more days (perhaps longer). The rest is helping, but I’m not back where I should be yet. Don’t worry, the Music of Star Trek Blogathon is still happening (and if you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time!!!) and I’m sure that by the end of the month (hopefully sooner), I’ll be back to some kind of a normal schedule here.

I do miss sharing films and film music with you guys, so I hope my brain recovers soon. I just wanted to let you know that I was okay (I’m not sick or anything) and that I’ll be back soon πŸ™‚ Promise!!! -Becky

I know how you feel – that’s why I just take a break from blogging when it comes to exam time every year. It’s so much better knowing that you can relieve a little bit of pressure by stepping back from this, it might only be a few hours here or there but they can really make the difference.

Good luck writing the rest of your dissertation and I’ll see you back in action soon πŸ™‚

I wish you great success with all your studies and that the time off will be of great help!

I wanted to invite to participate in a blogathon I am co-hosting, but I totally understand if you already have too much on your plate. My brother is working on his graduate studies and I have extraordinary respect for the work involved!

In case you are interested, it’s called the Characters in Costume Blogfest and is focused on characters, their costumes, makeup, etc. It is happening October 28-30th.
