The 2018 Oscar Nominations are in!! And the nominees are…

At last we have the list of nominees for the 90th annual Academy Awards that will be held on March 4th, 2018. Some surprised me and some disappointed me (by their absence). The Shape of Water leads with a whopping 13 nominations; Dunkirk has 8; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has 7; Phantom Thread and Darkest Hour both have 6; Blade Runner 2049 and Lady Bird have 5; Call Me By Your Name, Get Out, Mudbound and Star Wars: The Last Jedi have 4; Logan has 1 and Wonder Woman wasn’t nominated at all! This last snub upsetst me because if any superhero film deserved to be nominated for at least ONE Oscar, it was Wonder Woman (even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 picked up a nomination, albeit just for Best Visual Effects). I’m also disappointed that only one female director was nominated for Best Director (Greta Gerwig for Lady Bird). Some might say that’s an improvement but I can’t agree (because if it were REALLY fair there would be an equal mix of men and women nominated in the category, but I digress.) At any rate, enjoy reading through the list of nominees and let me know who you think will win in each category in the comments below!
